In 2015, 197 nations signed the Paris Agreement to show their commitment to limit global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius to mitigate the threats brought by climate change. To realize this goal, all nations have no excuse but achieve net zero emissions by 2050. In the COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow in 2021, they went through heated debate and negotiations before finalizing a pact. Participating nations agreed to submit a more proactive goal of reducing carbon emissions and promised to review their carbon reduction plans on a regular basis.

Though not part of COP26, Taiwan, as an export-oriented economy, is no exception. Furthermore, technology is one of the cores of the economy of Taiwan. It must bear the brunt of the policy as it consumes a lot of power during production. ASE believes that it is their ultimate obligation to address climate change in order to not only satisfy customers’ requirements for environmental protection but also lead suppliers to further their sustainable performance with the same standard when executing various projects at all plants. Therefore, they can make the huge wave carbon reduction a business opportunity of innovation instead of pressure.
