Before John Dennis entered the British Office Taipei as the representative, he was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Angola. He joined the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (formerly known as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, FCO) in 1981, committed himself to Asian, African, and commercial affairs, with a range of overseas postings. He has also spent time on secondment to the private sector.
